Wellesley's Jenna Harvey Named NEWMAC Pitcher of the Week
WELLESLEY, Mass. -- Wellesley College senior pitcher Jenna Harvey (London, Ontario, Canada) was named the New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) softball Pitcher of the Week for the period ending April 20, 2008.
Harvey had another dominant performance on the mound in a 5-1 week for Wellesley. The senior pitcher made three appearances, going 3-0 with two no-hitters and a 0.00 ERA.
Against Framingham State, Harvey threw her first no-no of the week, going five innings and striking out 14. In an extra innings win over second-seeded Wheaton, she threw all nine innings, scattering five hits, allowing no earned runs while striking out 14 hitters. To close out the week, Harvey threw a no-hitter against WPI, going five innings while striking out 12 batters.
Overall, Harvey finished the week with 40 strikeouts and no earned runs.
Wellesley softball finished the regular season 24-6-1 overall, with a 13-3 mark in the NEWMAC. The Blue clinched the top-seed in the NEWMAC tournament and will play host to the NEWMAC Championships. Play begins on Wednesday, April 23rd with first-round games being played at Wellesley and at Wheaton.
