Wellesley 3, Pacific 2 (8 innings)
  Boxscore
     Jenna Harvey fired a no-hitter as Wellesley defeated Pacific 3-2 in eight innings.  The game was the spring trip opener for the Blue in the 2008 SunWest Tournament.
     Pacific got on the board first, scoring on a Wellesley error in the top of the first inning.  The Blue tied the game in the bottom of the second inning when Barbarajean Grundlock scored on a passed ball and took the lead when a Brittany Bakacs single to center field scored Ilana Orloff.
     Pacific tied the game in the top of the third inning and the game remained 2-2 until Wellesley scored the winning run in the bottom of the eighth inning.  With the international tie-breaker rule in effect, Sarah Parmelee scored off of a Meghan Sullivan single to left field.
     Harvey pitched all eight innings for the Blue, striking out 14 while allowing two unearned runs.  Amanda Tai and Sullivan each collected two hits for Wellesley.

Wellesley 4, Whitworth 3 (8 innings)

     The Blue picked up their second extra-innings win in as many games as Wellesley defeated Whitworth College 4-3, at the 2008 SunWest Tournament in Los Angeles, CA.
     Whitworth jumped to a 3-0 lead, but Wellesley chipped away to tie the contest in the bottom of the sixth inning.  Brittany Bakacs picked up two RBI in the inning off of a single up the middle, while Ilana Orloff drove home the third run on a base hit to center field.
    The Blue scored the winning run in the bottom of the eighth.  Leadoff runner Alex Houghtalin was placed on second for the tiebreaker and Shawna McCreadie advanced her to third base with a bunt.  Bakacs then hit her home with an RBI fielder's choice after the throw to the plate was late.
     Barbarajean Grundlock came on in relief and pitched 5.2 scoreless innings.  She only allowed one hit while striking out six batters in the win.

Wellesley 9, Elmhurst 0

     Barbarajean Grundlock pitched seven scoreless innings as Wellesley rolled to a 9-0 win over Elmhurst at the SunWest Tournament in Los Angeles, CA.  The win pushed the Blue to 3-0 on their spring break trip and 8-0-1 overall.
     Grundlock picked up her third win of the season scattering only three hits while striking out eight batters. Leading the way for Wellesley at the plate were Alex Coari, Meghan Sullivan, Alex Houghtalin and Ilana Orloff who each picked up two hits.  Jenna Harvey added three RBI while Houghtalin, Alex Warren and Samantha Littlejohn each knocked in a run in the 9-0 win.


Wellesley 2, Linfield 1

     On day two of their trip to Los Angeles, the Wellesley College softball team made their mark at the SunWest Tournament by defeating the 2007 NCAA Division III National Champions, Linfield College.  Wellesley picked up a 2-1 win to improve their season record to 7-0-1.
    With the Blue behind 1-0 in the last frame, Amanda Tai and Alex Coari lead off the inning with singles.  Kara Wong's double tied the score at 1-1 and pinch-runner Sarah Parmelee scores the game-winner on a passed ball with two outs. 
   Amanda Tai and Alex Houghtalin led the way with two hits apiece as Wellesley racked up 10 hits against the defending Champions.  On the mound for Wellesley, Jenna Harvey threw all seven innings for the Blue allowing one run on two hits while striking out eight.

Wellesley 4, Whitworth 2 (8 innings)

     In their second game of the week against Whitworth College, the Blue pulled off another 8-inning come-from-behind win.
    Down 2-0 in the top of the third, a Sarah Parmelee double scored Amanda Tai to cut the lead to 2-1. Wellesley tied the game 2-2 in the top of the seventh inning, when Ali Davis scored on a single from Alex Warren.
    The Blue pushed two more across in the top of the eighth inning with and RBI from Kara Wong and an unearned run. Starting pitcher Jenna Harvey then struck out the first two batters and retired the third of the inning on a groundout to secure the win.
    Harvey threw all eight inning for Wellesley, allowing two runs on three hits while striking out 16. Parmelee had a three-hit game for the Blue, while Tai and Meghan Sullivan each collected two hits in the win. Wellesley moves to 8-0-1.


Concordia 7, Wellesley 3
   Boxscore
    The Wellesley Blue picked up their first loss of 2008 dropping a 7-3 contest to Concordia, an NAIA team. 
    Wellesley dug a hole for themselves early, falling behind 7-0 after three innings.  In the bottom of the sixth, the Blue got on the board after a three-run blast from Alex Warren but it wasn’t enough and Wellesley fell 7-3.
    Barbarjean Grundlock was great in relief for Wellesley, tossing four scoreless innings allowing only one hit while striking out five.  At the plate, Ali Davis was 2-3.
    The loss moves the Blue to 8-1-1 on the season.

Wellesley 4, Williams 2
   Boxscore
    Wellesley won their sixth game out west with a 4-2 victory over Williams College.
    The Blue scored first, with a run in the opening frame to take a 1-0 lead.  In the top of the third, the Blue pushed two more passed the plate.  Williams closed the gap to 3-2 in the bottom half of the inning, but Wellesley held on, adding an insurance run in the top of the sixth inning to seal the 4-2 win.
    Barbarjean Grundlock picked up the win, allowing only two hits in the contest.  Offensively, Amanda Tai continued her hot-hitting with two hits, Kara Wong had an RBI triple, Jenna Harvey added a run-scoring double while Alex Warren and Meghan Sullivan each added RBI. 
   Wellesley improves to 9-1-1.

Willamette 4 Wellesley 0 (8 innings)
   Boxscore
    Wellesley dropped their final game in the 2008 SunWest Tournament, 4-0 in 8 innings.  Offensively, Barbarajean Grundlock hit a double while Jenna Harvey and Amanda Tai each added singles in the loss.
