WELLESLEY, Mass. - The Wellesley College softball team landed four players on the National Fastpitch Coaches' Association (NFCA) All-New England Region team.  Junior outfielder Megan Wood (Jacksonville, FL) was named first-team All-Region, sophomore second baseman Alison Davis (Glen Ellyn, IL) picked up a second-team nod, while senior pitcher Barbarajean Grundlock (Blackwood, NJ) and junior first baseman Alex Warren (Delta, BC) were named to the third team.

As Wellesley's starting left fielder, Wood finished the season hitting a remarkable .398 with 45 hits, seven homeruns and 35 runs batted in.  A three-time All-Region selection, including a repeat first-team selection, Wood led the Blue's potent offensive attack all season long.  With runners on base, the junior recorded a season average of .452 while also hitting .800 with the bases loaded. Wood also compiled a 4-3 pitching record this season with a 2.62 ERA.

Davis ended the season on a tear, recording an 18-game hit streak which included ten multi-hit performances. The sophomore makes her first appearance on the All-Region team, after finishing the season with a .348 batting average, 24 runs batted in and team-leading totals of 33 runs scored, seven doubles and six triples. 

Grundlock is a first-time All-Region selection.  The senior pitcher finished 2009 with a 14-9 overall record and a 2.20 ERA. She also racked up 192 strikeouts for the Blue, while opposing batters hit only .220 against the right hander.  Grundlock ends her career at Wellesley with a 31-17 overall record, a 1.66 ERA, 404 strikeouts and two no-hitters.

Warran also lands her first All-Region honor.  The junior ended the season with a .337 batting average while slugging nine extra base hits (six doubles, two triples, one homerun).  She also drove in 21 runs for the Blue with a slugging percentage of .478. 

Wellesley finished the season with a 21-14-1 overall record and as both the NEWMAC Tournamet and the NEWMAC Regular season runner-up.
