Alison Davis Named NEWMAC Softball Player of the Week
WELLESLEY, Mass. – Wellesley College sophomore Ali Davis (Glen Ellyn, IL) was named the NEWMAC Softball Player of the Week for the period ending April 19, 2009.
Davis led Wellesley to a 6-2 record during the week, including a 5-1 mark against NEWMAC opponents. For the week, she hit .577 (15 for 26), reaching safely in each of the Blue's eight games, while recording mult-hit performances in six contests.
Splitting time between catcher and second base, Davis blasted four triples during the week for a slugging percentage of .923. She ended the week with seven runs batted in while also scoring a team-high 11 runs.
On the season, Davis is hitting .340 with five doubles, six triples, one homerun and 20 RBI. Her triple total leads all Wellesley batters while her RBI are second on the team.
Wellesley softball is currently 19-12-1 (12-3-1) on the season. The Blue will enter this weeks NEWMAC Tournament at the second seed and will host first round games on Wednesday beginning at 2:30pm.
