The Blue celebrated the first day of Spring Break with a 7-0 win over Western Connecticut this morning in Clermont, FL. Barbarajean Grundlock (Blackwood, NJ) had another strong outing, throwing three-hit shutout for the win. Grundlock received ample support from her teammates, as the Blue amassed 12 hits in the game. Amanda Tai (Melrose, MA) led the offense, going 3-for-5 with 2 singles and a triple. Megan Wood (Jacksonville, FL) added 3 singles, and Jessie Haladyna (St. John's, FL) went 1-for-3 with a triple.
Wellesley 0, Union 2

Despite a solid pitching start from Wood (4 1/3 innings, two runs) and an excellent relief appearance from Sarah Sherburne (Mill Valley, CA), who allowed only two hits and no runs in 2 2/3 innings, the Blue fell to Union College this afternoon 2-0. The Blue scattered only five hits during the seven-inning loss, one each from Wood, Haladyna, Alex Warren (Delta, BC), Sinta Cebrian (Seattle, WA), and Elora Daniele (Belle Meade, NJ).

Megan Wood (Jacksonville, FL) was
instrumental in the win for the Blue scattering seven hits and limiting the
Huskies to three runs in five innings. Wood was hot at the plate as well, driving in
six runs including a grand slam home run in the bottom of the fourth inning.
Wood, who upped her record to 1-1 in the circle, paced an eight-hit Wellesley
attack connecting on a pair of singles and the grand slam. Elora
Daniele (Belle Meade, NJ) drove in two runs for the Blue with a
single and a triple.
Wellesley 1, Wisconsin-Whitewater 9

Wellesley fell to #1-ranked Wisconsin Whitewater 9-1 to cap off today's double-header. The Blue mustered only one hit,
a lead-off double in from Amanda Tai (Melrose, MA) in the first. Tai came around to score on a Whitewater miscue. Whitewater replied with four runs in the first, two more in the second, and three more in the fourth for the 9-1 win. Barbarajean Grundlock (Blackwood, NJ) took the loss for the Blue, giving up 12 hits in five innings of work.

Despite another strong outing from first-year pitcher Sarah Sherburne (Mill Valley, CA), the Blue fell to Mount Mercy this morning, 2-0. Sherburne allowed only three hits while fanning three in the loss. Elora Daniele (Belle Mead, NJ) was 2-for-3 in the game, while Ali Davis (Glen Ellyn, IL) was 1-for-3 with a double.
Wellesley 12, Buffalo State 7

In their strongest offensive performance of the season to date, the Blue scored 12 runs on 13 hits to down Buffalo State 12-7 this afternoon on their third day of Spring Break competition. Every Wellesley batter recorded at least one hit in the outing, led by Elora Daniele (Belle Meade, N.J./Montgomery) with three and Sinta Cebrian (Seattle, Wa) and Megan Townsend (Saline, MI) with two each. Buffalo State took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first, but the Blue responded with three runs in the bottom half of the inning to take a 3-1 lead. Buffalo erupted for six runs in the second, putting the score at 7-3, but Wellesley scored in each of their next four at-bats, plating one run in the second inning, two in the third, four in the fourth, and two in the fifth for the final score of 12-7. After a rocky start in which she allowed eight hits and seven runs in the first two frames, Barbarajean Grundlock (Blackwood, NJ) settled into a rhythm, scattering only three hits the rest of the game.

Wellesley 1, Eastern Connecticut State 2

The Blue dropped a heart-breaker to Eastern Connecticut State, 2-1, on their final day of Spring Break competition in Clermont, FL. Eastern took a 1-0 lead in the third on an RBI triple. Wellesley tied the game in the fourth when Jessie Haladyna (St. John's, FL) reached on an infield single with one out, stole second and scored on Alex Warren's (Delta, BC) single to center. But Eastern answered with a run in the bottom of the sixth to secure the one-run win. Barbarajean Grundlock (Blackwood, NJ) took the loss for the Blue, giving up six hits and two runs.
Wellesley 13, University of Chicago 0

Wellesley erupted for 11 runs in the second inning and cruised to a 13-0 five-inning win over University of Chicago. The Blue took a 1-0 lead in the first, when Amanda Tai (Melrose, MA) led off with a double and came around to score. Ali Davis (Glen Ellyn, IL) led off the second with a solo homer, opening the floodgates for an 11-run inning that included a three-run triple from Tai and a double from Davis in her second at-bat. Megan Wood (Jacksonville, FL) led off the fourth with a monster shot over the leftfield fence to round out the scoring. Barbarajean Grundlock (Blackwood, NJ) snagged the win for the Blue. Perfect through three innings, Grundlock scattered three hits in the fourth and fifth while fanning four.
