BABSON PARK, Mass. – The Wellesley College softball team placed two players on the 2010 NEWMAC All-Conference team.  The Blue were represented with first team selections from both Megan Wood (Jacksonville, FL) and Alex Warren (Delta, BC).

Wood, a senior, becomes just the second Wellesley softball player to earn All-Conference recognition in every season.  The Blue's leader in batting average (.392), she ranked in the top ten in the NEWMAC in six offensive categories, including finishing third in the conference in RBI and triples.  She also ranked among the NEWMAC leaders in slugging percentage, homeruns, batting average and on-base percentage. The Wellesley team captain and clean-up hitter posted a season average of .517 with runners on base, including going 2-2 with the bases loaded. Wood also posted a perfect fielding percentage with 14 assists.

Warren, a senior, earns her first All-Conference selection.  She led Wellesley in doubles (9) while racking up 39 hits, 28 RBI and a slugging percentage of .670. She ranked in the top ten in the NEWMAC in slugging percentage, homeruns , triples, batting average, RBI and runs scored. Against NEWMAC opponents, Warren hit .426 with 20 hits and 16 RBI. Warren also stepped it up with runners on base, hitting .436 overall, with a .400 average with runners in scoring position.
