Wellesley 8, Western Connecticut 4

After sitting through a nearly six-hour rain delay, Wellesley College softball tallied two runs in each of the first three innings against Western Connecticut and held on for an 8-4 win tonight in Clermont, FL. Lauren Goldfarb (Albuquerque, NM) got the win for the Blue, tossing a five-hitter while fanning six. Goldfarb helped her cause with two hits of her own, while Sinta Cebrian (Seattle, WA) and Samantha Spiga (Perth Amboy, NJ) also rapped two hits each. Megan Wood (Jacksonville, FL) scored two runs for the Blue.
Wellesley 8, Morrisville State 3

Wellesley first-year pitcher Sarah Schwartzmeyer (Elba, NY) struck out 14 en route to a late-night 8-3 win over Morrisville College. Alex Warren (Delta, BC) led the Blue offense, going 2-for-3 with two doubles, while Mara Blesoff (Oak Park, IL) added three RBI and Sinta Cebrian (Seattle, WA), two.

Lauren Goldfarb (Albuquerque, NM) snagged the win for the Blue, while Megan Wood (Jacksonville, FL) recorded her first homerun of the season in the win.
Wellesley 3, Union 6

Playing their fourth game in less than 14 hours, the Blue fell to Union College this morning, 6-3. Brittany Bakacs (Millstone Township, NJ) was 2-for-three at the plate for Wellesley. Alicia Briggs (Haverhill, MA) took the loss, while Wood tallied five strikeouts in relief.

The Blue capitalized on six-hit, four-run fifth inning to grab a 5-3 win over Plymouth State today in Clermont, FL. Ilana Orloff (Weston, MA) led the attack, going 2-for-4 on the day. Brittany Bakacs (Millstone Township, NJ) notched the first homerun of her career with a leadoff homer in the sixth to give the Blue an insurance run. Lauren Goldfarb (Albuquerque, NM) recorded the win, lifting her season mark to 4-1.

Wellesley pushed its Spring Break record to 5-1 and overall record to 7-3 with a convincing 10-0 win over Colby College On Tuesday in Clermont, FL. The Blue took a one-run lead in the first inning, then erupted in the fourth with nine runs on nine hits, including triples from Sinta Cebrian (Seattle, WA), Alex Warren (Delta, BC), and Megan Wood (Jacksonville, FL). Wood also recorded a career-high 12 strikeouts in route to the score-shortened five-inning win.

With nine well-timed hits, Wellesley softball tallied three multi-run innings en route to an 8-2 win over Southern Maine Tuesday morning in Clermont, Fl. The Blue scored two runs in the second, one in the third, two in the fourth, and three in the sixth to break the game open. Jesse Haladyna (St. John's, FL) led the attack, going three-for-four with a double and a triple. Megan Wood (Jacksonville, FL) added a double and triple as well. Sarah Schwartzmeyer (Elba, NY) recorded the win, allowing only three hits while fanning six.
Wellesley 2, Trinity 1

In the most exciting game of the season to date, the Blue snatched a 2-1 win from Trinity College to close out their Spring Break trip. Jesse Haladyna (St. John's, FL) accounted for both Wellesley runs. After singling and stealing second in the fourth inning, Haladyna scored on a Trinity miscue to give Wellesley a 1-0 lead. Trinity tied the game in the top of the seventh, but Haladyna answered with a two-out triple in the bottom of the inning, scoring on a throwing error on the play. Haladyna finished 4-for-4, with two runs scored, while Ilana Orloff (Weston, MA) went 2-for-2. Lauren Goldfarb (Albuquerque, NM) notched her fifth win of the season, allowing three hits while striking out three.
