Wellesley's Alex Warren Named NEWMAC Player of the Week
BABSON PARK, Mass. – Wellesley College senior Alex Warren (Delta, BC) was named the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Softball Player of the Week for the period ending April 4, 2010. This is her second weekly award this season.
Warren had a monster week for Wellesley, batting .786 (11/14) while driving in 11 runs in four NEWMAC wins. The senior notched at least two hits and an RBI in each game with seven of her 11 hits going for extra bases.
Against MIT, she went 3-4 in game one with two doubles, a triple and three RBI, while in game two, she was 4-4 with a double and two RBI. Against WPI, she was 2-3 in game one with a solo homerun, while in game two she was 2-3 with a grand slam and five total RBI.
This season, Warren leads the 14-4 Blue with a .509 average, four homeruns and 21 RBI.
Wellesley softball is back in action on Tuesday, hosting a rescheduled doubleheader against NEWMAC-rival Wheaton College at 3:00pm.
