Wellesley Volleyball Sweeps Mount Holyoke

SOUTH HADLEY, Mass. -- Senior outside hitter Murielle Dawdy (Larkspur, Calif./Redwood) delivered six kills and eight digs, as the Wellesley College women's volleyball team swept Mount Holyoke College 3-0 (30-18, 30-17, 30-14) this evening in New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) action at the Mildred Howard Gymnasium. It was the Blue's 20th consecutive victory over the Lyons.
Wellesley received a solid performance from senior middle blocker Tracy Waldman (Seattle, Wash./Roosevelt), who tallied eight kills. First years Arcadia Paine (Durango, Colo./Durango) and Samantha Du (Houston, Texas/Cypress Ridge) recorded six kills apiece, while classmate Victoria Peng (Diamond Bar, Calif./Bonita Vista) chipped in with 27 assists and four aces.
Mount Holyoke was led by junior right side hitter Amanda Trask (Brockton, Mass./Brockton), who posted four kills and a pair of blocks. Sophomore outside hitter Kendall Burns (Houston, Texas/Bellaire) contributed four kills and five digs, while junior libero Kathryne Schwartz (Ridgewood, N.J./Ridgewood) accumulated 11 digs. Rounding things out for the Lyons was senior setter Rachel West (St. Paul, Minn./Central), who dished out 15 assists.
Mount Holyoke (1-3, 0-3 NEWMAC) will return to action on Thursday, when it visits Elms College for a non-conference match beginning at 7:00 p.m. Wellesley (4-2, 3-0 NEWMAC) is slated to participate in the MIT Invitational on Friday and Saturday.
