Wellesley Falls to Williams, Sweeps Smith, on Day Two of MIT Tournament

WELLESLEY, Mass. – After splitting with Vassar and Tufts on Day One of the MIT Invitational, Wellesley dropped a 3-2 match to Williams College before sweeping Smith 3-0 on Day Two.  Jessica Duff (Milton, Abingdon, UK) had three double-doubles on the weekend, with 14 kills and 10 digs against Vassar, 11 kills and 14 digs against Williams, and 16 kills and 16 digs against Smith.  The Blue now stand at 11-3 on the season. 

In this morning's loss to Williams, Alice Cummings (Tallahassee, Fla.) and Samantha Du (Houston, Tx.) paired up to led the Blue with 13 kills a piece.  Duff added 11.  Emily Peters (Temescal Valley, Calif.) tallied 23 digs, while Victoria Peng (Diamond Bar, Calif.) dished out 40 assists in the 25-17, 25-15, 25-21, 25-19, 15-7 loss.

In a one-sided win over Smith (15-12, 25-12, 25-15), Duff led the Blue attack with 16 kills on 27 attempts and led all players with 16 digs.  Cummings added 10 kills on 20 attempts, along with 11 digs, while Du chipped in five kills and seven blocks. Peng notched 32 assists in the win.

The Blue return to action Tuesday evening at 7:00 p.m., when they travel to WPI for a NEWMAC match-up.
