Future Plans

Darshana's current goal is to increase the awareness of the organization among the Wellesley College community. We also want to bring the Hindu Community at Wellesley together and help them feel supported so their stay at the college is educational and fun. Darshana members would like to increase the resources of the organization, so it can continue to hold outings to the nearby Hindu temple, increase its library of books and tapes on Hinduism, and increase other resources for Hindu prayer and religious activities. Darshana also hopes to sponsor a traditional Indian Garba Dance which would provide an excellent opportunity for students and faculty to experience Hindu traditions and celebrations thus making it a dynamic organization that many can enjoy.

A number of members of Darshana have been advocating for more South Asian courses at Wellesley along with the Wellesley Association of South Asian Cultures (WASAC). As a result of this effort in 2006 a South Asian program was launched at Wellesley. Darshana would like to see more courses on Hinduism offered at Wellesley as this is limited at present. We would also like to hold Sanskrit classes and undertake more service projects to India.

Darshana is an open religious organization, we are eager to get your input, answer questions and educate interested students and faculty in Hinduism. Darshana members invite you to join them in helping make Darshana a more recognized and larger organization on campus. Darshana meetings are held on Sunday in the Meditation room in the Multi-Faith Center on the first level of Houghton Chapel.
