Wellesley Field Hockey Falls to Conn College

Box Score

WELLESLEY, Mass. - Wellesley field hockey dropped a hard-fought game to Connecticut College this afternoon, 3-2, as Conn College's Abby Hine (Madison, Conn.) exploded with a hat-trick.  The loss drops Wellesley to 4-3 for the season.  The Camels improve to 3-4.

Hine scored the first goal of the game on a feed from Kelsey Frederick (Nantucket, Mass.) with 13:29 remaining in the opening half. With 1:31 to play in the half, Kristen Dirmaier (South Burlington, Vt.) assisted Hine for a goal off of a penalty corner, giving the Camels a 2-0 lead at the break.

Hine scored the trifecta 3:18 into the second half on Fredericks' second assist of the game. Wellesley trimmed the lead to one on consecutive goals from Sally Scudder (Delafield, Wis.), with assists from Callie Lekas (Brewster, Mass.) and Whitney Reid (Bensalem, Pa.). But the Camels were able to keep the Blue off the scoreboard for the balance of the afternoon to hold on for the 3-2 victory.

Robin Edwards (Concord, Mass.) had three saves in net for the Camels. Emily Hewitt (Alexandria, VA) finished with five saves for Wellesley.

The Camels will visit Bates College Saturday afternoon for a 12:00 p.m. game in Lewiston.  Wellesley takes the field again on Saturday at 1:00, when they host Mount Holyoke.
